A Quiet Arrangement

Wood End Lighthouse and its keeper's cottage rest at land's edge, positioned with the kind of intentionality that comes from necessity rather than aesthetics. Yet what was built for function has achieved something closer to poetry—two structures in perfect balance, tower and dwelling, light and shelter, arranged against dunes and distant shore with compositional grace no architect could plan. The paths worn through sand and scrub speak to journeys made between the two, daily rituals of maintenance and watching that connected keeper to beacon, purpose to place.
